The introduction of the Carbon Reduction Commitment which will look to levy taxes against high energy users will become a reality in 2010.
As part of the CRC initiative the European Commission directive introduced the European Code of Conduct on Data Centres in 2008. This code of conduct provides a set of rules which will help drive down energy use and improve energy efficiency within the data centre environment.
Workspace Technology recognised the potential impact that the CRC will have within the data centre market. Taking this on board Workspace Technology has recently become an early adopter of the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct includes a set of “Best Practice” recommendations designed to help improve the energy efficiency of data centre environments.
As a European Code of Conduct on Data Centres Endorser Workspace Technology will actively:-
- Disseminate information on the Code of Conduct
- Encourage organisations to become Code of Conduct Participants
- Aid Code of Conduct Participants in putting into practice the recommendations of Participant Guidelines and Best Practices.
In line with our Code of Conduct Endorsement strategy Workspace Technology are able to offer services which will enable organisations to become an EU Code of Conduct on Data Centre Efficiency Participant.
